Michael Convertino

Michael Convertino was told by a country western line dance instructor at the age of 18 that he was talented and should think about doing this for a living. No wonder he waited until he was 22 to begin his dancing career. Starting out with swing dancing, Michael quickly discovered his talent for pretty much anything you can do with a partner. He began his teaching career at Arthur Murray, where he received training from some of the best dancers in the world, and taught all forms of ballroom dance.

Michael then wanted a change from the corporate world of dancing, and began working at independent studios throughout the L.A. area, finally settling on a life of not only teaching, but also performing and competing as well. Some of Michael's performance highlights include dancing at the Hollywood Bowl with Royal Crown Revue and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, with the Liquid Radio Players at the Acme Theatre in Hollywood, and as a special guest performer at the Tokyo Salsa Congress with Latin Dance performance group Salsa in the Mix. His competition credits include 1st place in Future Champions Smooth with Arthur Murray and 2nd place in the Showcase Division at the World Swing Dance Championships. Also called a "clever" choreographer by one of his former coaches, Michael works closely with the directors of the Hollywood Hornets directing rehearsal and choreographing projects of his own.

In addition to swing dancing, Michael is a former motocross racer, punk rock guitar player with L.A.'s own Kastle Greyskull, and above all - damn good with an iron.
